As a follow-up to last week’s piece on medicinal herbs, CBS58 morning news anchor Asa George came in for another visit on 8/3 to tape a segment on receiving a treatment from Joseph Cannariato. Exciting news for those who support acupuncture: There is currently legislation in train in Congress to modify both the Medicare and the Federal Employees Health Benefits program to allow for reimbursement of services provided by qualified acupuncturists. It was referred to House Committees on Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Government Oversight on 1/22/2009 for consideration. It is important that acupuncture supporters weigh in with their Congressional representatives to let them know how important this legislation is.
